How This Library Works

What this is

A working library on the commercial side of a B2B product. Positioning, messaging, pricing, research, demand, content, and launch.

It is built for one kind of reader. Someone who owns a product that already works and already sells, and who is now accountable for growing it without a commercial team to hand it to. Most of them came up through the field their product serves. They are fluent in the product and new to this half of the work.

The premise is that the good thinking on this already exists, written by people who have done it many times. It is scattered, uneven, and mixed in with a great deal that is not worth the time. Finding it is the work. This library does that finding and keeps the result in one place.

What gets in

Three tests, and a piece has to pass all three.

It has to be specific enough to act on. A piece that says positioning matters does not get in. A piece that says where to start and what to do first does.

It has to come from someone who has done the work. Practitioner accounts, not summaries of other summaries.

It has to be readable by someone who is not a marketer. The reader is an engineer, a clinician, a scientist, or an operator. Vocabulary that assumes a marketing background is a reason to leave a piece out, not a reason to explain the vocabulary.

What does not get in

Pieces that are mostly an advertisement for the writer's service.

Pieces that restate a well-known framework without adding an account of using it.

Anything behind a paywall a reader hits partway through. We check. A recommendation that ends in a subscription prompt is not a recommendation.

Why the credit is in the body

Every piece here names its author and its source in the writing itself, not only at the bottom of the page. Every author and every source has a page, and every outbound link goes to the original.

That is deliberate. This library is useful because of other people's work, and the point of a curated collection is to send you to the original rather than to stand in for it. Where we add our own reading, the writing says so. If the summary is all you need, take it. If it is not, the link is right there.

Who publishes it

M-PaX Marketing. We work on commercialization with founder-led B2B companies, so we have a stake in this being good and an obvious reason to be read carefully.

Everything here is free to read and there is nothing to sign up for.
